Neapolitan excellence in the world
Ricciocaprese is a brand from the well known Neapolitan firm of Majello, which was founded in 1867 and became renowned for the famous Capodimonte ceramics.
The firm was started by Alfonso Majello, a successful young man from a prosperous, educated family. He fell in love with and married a famous artist’s daughter and became so passionate about art and the fascinating world of Capodimonte ceramics that decided to open a ceramics laboratory. In 1897 Alfonso Majello ’s entrepreneurial skills and dedication were rewarded by one of the highest honours in Italy. He was appointed “Cavaliere del Lavoro”, a decoration given by the President of the Italian Republic for success in the world of business.
This talent and the passion for artisanship were passed down through the generations: first to the sculptor Lucio Majello – Alfonso’s son – and then on to Fabio, who now keeps the family business at its original standard. And it is Fabio and his wife Imma who introduced the Ricciocaprese brand.
The combination of Fabio’s entrepreneurial skills and his wife Imma’s creative intuition led to the creation of the ceramic sea urchin “Riccio”, which is now the trademark and symbol of the brand.
Ricciocaprese‘s success lies in its background of more than a century of Neapolitan craftsmanship.
